Kollam is a busy market town in Kerala surrounded by coconut palms and cashew plantations. It’s situated on the banks of the Ashtamundi Lake. On the guided tours through Monroe Island you can see prawn and fish farming and coir making. Monroe Island is also known as Munroethuruthu. It’s named after the Englishman, Late Mr. Monroe who resided at Kundara, a town nearby.
